DER-MED Centre offers surgical tattoo removal. We also correct mishandled laser tattoo removal. During a consultation, the surgeon will not only choose the best method to remove your tattoo, but also answer any of your questions. They will also try to determine whether a single removal procedure will be enough or will it be necessary to repeat it.
Surgical tattoo removal involves cutting it out together with the skin. This is performed by a surgeon using a scalpel. A local anaesthetic is administered. It is often a multi-stage procedure. This means that the doctor cuts out skin patches one by one at intervals of several weeks. This allows the skin to regenerate.
Also during the visit, the doctor will specify recommendations on how to prepare for the procedure and how long it will take to recover afterwards.
Some indications for tattoo removal are often dependent on the origin of the problem and the treatment site. In the case of:
- A post-traumatic tattoo – occurring as a result of an injury when small gravel particles get under the skin, creating a visible mark;
- An artistic tattoo – e.g. when the patient is not satisfied with the result;
- An allergic reaction to the pigments.
