The excess skin on the eyelids makes your face look not only older, but also more fatigued, while in some cases it restricts the field of vision. A solution to this problem is blepharoplasty. It is a surgical procedure that eliminates the problem of droopy eyelids.
Blepharoplasty, also referred to as eyelid lift, involves removing excess skin from the upper eyelids. It is dedicated to all people who suffer from drooping eyelids. Thanks to the laser technology combined with a precise scalpel, the procedure is minimally invasive and safe and brings permanent effects.
From the therapeutic perspective, blepharoplasty is aimed at improving, in fact enhancing, the field of vision, which is limited by the excess skin on the eyelids. However, it is not the only purpose of the procedure. The other one is aesthetic and leads to rejuvenating our face and eliminating the so-called “sad look”.
At DER-MED Centre in Cracow we perform blepharoplasty, eyelid plastic surgery (droopy eyelid correction) using a scalpel and the Mona Lisa Touch Xide CO2 fractional laser. Compared to the traditional surgical method, this procedure is significantly faster, does not leave visible scars and reduces the recovery time to a minimum. Also, this method does not cause discomfort in the form of swelling, bleeding or bruises!

1. Qualification consultation
During the consultation, the doctor qualifies the patient for the procedure. The doctor carries out a medical interview and learns the patient’s expectations. It is also critical to discuss the indications and potential diseases that the patient might have. The doctor will also order necessary blood tests. If there are no contraindications for the procedure – the date of the procedure can be scheduled.
Immediately before the procedure, the doctor draws special lines on the eyelids to precisely mark the area to be removed. The patient receives a local anaesthetic. Then, the doctor removes the excess skin and places tiny, thin sutures along the removal area. After the procedure, special dressings are applied (these do not restrict the patient’s vision) and the patient goes home.
The follow-up visit is carried out after 7 days and is combined with suture removal. The doctor and the patient discuss the effects of the droopy eyelid correction.
Preparation for the procedure
Blepharoplasty does not require any special preparations. The only requirement is to do the tests ordered by the doctor (necessary if you want to be qualified for the procedure) and follow the doctor's recommendations.
Blepharoplasty (droopy eyelid correction) is performed at Der-Med Centre in Cracow.
The safety of our patients is paramount. Therefore, we pay much attention to the quality of our equipment or sterile conditions. Materials used during the procedure are always single-use. The blepharoplasty procedure is performed by an experienced doctor assisted by a trained nurse.
Comfort after the procedure
Because laser blepharoplasty is minimally invasive, the patient returns home immediately after the procedure. After the procedure, a dressing is placed on the eyelids. Thanks to its special shape, it does not restrict the patient’s vision but protects the surgical site. Ointments that facilitate healing and improve post-surgical comfort and sensations are recommended.
Is the effect of blepharoplasty permanent?
Yes, the effect is permanent. The procedure involves removing the excess eyelid skin and not – as in other treatments – stimulating collagen production.
Is blepharoplasty performed in a series of procedures?
No, the procedure is done once.
Does blepharoplasty leave visible scars?
The scar is practically invisible because the incision is made along the natural eyelid fold.
Who performs the blepharoplasty procedure?
The procedure is performed by an experienced doctor.
Will I see normally immediately after the procedure?
Yes, of course. Along the laser incision, small dressings are placed that do not restrict your vision.
